The Nervous System & Chiropractors
Many of our patients come in for the treatment of back pain, carpal tunnel, slipped discs, and more.
But since our body is all one unit, that means our entire body needs to be in great working order. When it’s not in working order, those functions can impact other parts of our body.
If it’s not addressed properly, then we get a domino effect causing more problems to appear.
Eliminating stress is a great way to improve our well-being. But it’s hard if your family or work life is surrounded by stressors.
We can continue to survive and handle the stresses of everyday life but at what cost? Our health can negatively impact how productive we are when we try to do too much and aren’t doing enough to compensate.
This eventually causes damage to the body, particularly the muscles and joints.
Chiropractic care is a type of health care that aims to correct the spine and relieve the pressure on the vertebrae. In turn this can have a huge impact on our sleep, digestion, and how we feel overall. Our practice is able to treat many conditions and promote healthy joints.
What does a chiropractic practice do?
Our chiropractors are experts in the treatment and rehabilitation of health conditions. They can also provide advice on nutrition, dietary, or lifestyle changes. Since chiropractors do not prescribe medications, they can help guide you in a more holistic way.
Through chiropractic adjustments and spinal manipulation, a chiropractor can help make you feel your best.
What is the Chiropractic Effect on The Nervous System?
If the spine isn't aligned correctly, it can put pressure on the nervous system. If this pathway becomes blocked or obstructed, the neurons can't communicate properly with each other. These misalignments can lead to many health problems, including back hunching and limping as well as irregular breathing.
To determine the root cause of the problem, the chiropractor will use X-rays and various movements to correct it. The adjustment may cause a sharp sensation, but it will soon subside and the trapped fluid and pressure will be released from the spine. You may feel much better in no time.
Some conditions may require several sessions before the patient is able to return to their normal life.
However, they may be able to see some improvement after the first session.
The Chiropractic Nervous System
Two sets of nervous systems make up the human body: the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
The intricate branches of nerve endings responsible for sensations such as touch, pain, hot and cold, are known as the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS, or spinal cord, controls the function organs and muscles of the spine. Because information travels from the brain to the spinal cord, the damaged area often causes paralysis.
This is because the brain can't send or receive information from the affected area. Paralysis can result from a broken pathway that prevents the brain's ability to command the body to move.
Your nervous system's balance is greatly affected by chiropractic. Your immune system must function correctly if the parasympathetic nervous systems (for rest and digest) and sympathetic nervous systems (for fight and flight activities) have to work in harmony.
Chiropractic can help with many conditions and diseases that can be caused by imbalances in these nervous systems.
